The Government has taken steps to hold the 'Ceylon Tea Expo Exhibition' in Sri Lanka in 2017 and not in 2015, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne said while addressing the weekly cabinet briefing held at the Government Information Department today (05).
It is expected hold this exhibition with the contribution of local tea producers, exporters and all those connected with the industry, to open the gateway to promote Sri Lanka Tea (Ceylon Tea) in the international market and to obtain the highest possible price for Sri Lanka, Minister added.
In 2017 Sri Lanka completes 150 years since the introduction of the Tea Industry as a commercial industry.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
