    People's Bank marks Independence Day with gifts galore

    Commemorating the 67th National Independence Day, the head office of The People’s Bank Head Office and all its branches island-widecommemorated the 67th Independence Day with various programs.

    The Independence Day celebration at the People’s Bank head office was held under the patronage of the Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of People’s Bank, N. Vasantha Kumar. The national anthem was sung and the national flag was hoisted during the occasion.

     

    People’s Bank made arrangements to gift an Isuru Udana gift certificate worth Rs. 500 to every baby born in the country between the 1 and 7 of February under its 'Nidahase Upatha' yearly programme held on Independence Day.

     

    The main event of this program was held on Wednesday (Feb.4) morning at the Castle Street Maternity Hospital in Borella under the patronage of Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of People’s Bank, N. Vasantha Kumar. Isuru Udana gift certificates and other gifts were offered to parents of newborn babies at the occasion. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Director of the Hospital, Dr. A.G Ludowyke together with staff of the hospital and the corporate and executive management of People’s Bank.


    Furthermore, staff members of other People’s Bank branches island-wide also visited their local hospitals with Isuru Udana gift certificates and other gifts for newborn babies.

     

    This program was inaugurated by People’s Bank in 2006 with a vision to instill pride and honour towards the motherland as well as to encourage parents to have a target for the future of their children.
