A press statement said the Secretary General/CEO of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka Mangala P B Yapa has expressed this view while addressing a networking and experience sharing seminar held on Saturday in Lahore.
The delegation of employers from Sri Lanka inspired the Pakistani companies on how they can participate in the delivery of technical education and vocational training according to the needs of the market.
The Sri Lankan delegation was in town to share the first-hand information about the TVET reforms that took place in their country and helped mainstreaming of the role of the industry in different phases of TVET delivery.
This visit was facilitated by Punjab Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (PTEVTA) with the support of TEVT Reform Support Programme in Pakistan which was funded by the European Union, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
The visiting delegation is also comprised Dilrukshi Kurukulasuriya, General Manager, Human Resources, Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC, Sri Lanka and Maliyadewa Ranasinghe, Learning & Development Manager, Holcim (Lanka), Sri Lanka.
General Manager Operations PTEVTA Punjab Hamid Ghani Anjum while addressing the seminar lauded the efforts of TVET Reform Support Programme adding that such visits would open up opportunities for learning from experiences of various countries aimed at promoting and providing demand driven technical education and vocational training.
The delegation shared at a network event the knowledge about the best practices in the areas of employers' engagement in the TVET delivery with specific focus on the co-operative training.
The network was attended by large number of employers who are participating in the Germany Pakistan Training Initiative (GPATI) attended the session.
The delegation also visited various industries in Lahore and Karachi besides meeting with representatives of various technical and vocational institutes in the country. The delegation shared practices and success stories from Sri Lanka in the field of co-operative/apprenticeships training and will also provide advisory services to local employers/associations interested in improving their profitability/cost reduction through apprenticeships/co-operative training system.
