The ceremony was held at the Authority's office in Colombo this morning under the patronage of its chairperson Mrs. Padma Wettewe.

The RSA provides housing loans of one hundred thousand rupees to families of War Heroes and disable War Heroes. Loans are provided in two installments with an initial payment of Rs. 60,000.00. The balance amount of Rs. 40,000.00 will be provided upon the evaluation of the progress of work carried out.

Speaking at the occasion Mrs. Wettewe said RSA as an entity of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development has initiated a large number of programmes to ensure the welfare of the War Heroes and their families. The President as the Commander in Chief and Secretary Defence and Urban Development are devoted in their commitment to look into the welfare of the War Heroes and their families.

She also revealed that the RSA has provided artificial limbs to disable War Heroes in the Uva Province and at present action is being taken to provide the same to those in the Northwestern Province. The programme will include other regions in later stages.(MoD)
