The Government has initiated a comprehensive program to enhance the paddy harvest in the Maha Season 2014/2015 in the 805 Grama Niladhari Division of Yattowita at the Pothukumbura, the Ministry of Agriculture revealed.
Accordingly, Seed paddy, carbonic fertilizer, pesticides and other necessary equipment were provided to cover 5 acres of paddy lands for the harvest enhancement program.
Technical assistance and instructions were provided to the farmers by the Agricultural Inspectors of the area. All abandoned paddy lands in the area would be brought under the plough with parallel to this enhancement program, Ministry added.
