While opening the new-fangled golden fence, Secretary Defence unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion amidst the venerable Maha Sanga and devotees at the Boo Maluwa of the olden temple. Chief Prelate Venerable Aluthwala Rathanasiri thero presided over the religious proceedings during the session.
Secretary Defence also paid homage to the Sacred Relics placed at the newly constructed 'Dantha Dhatun Mandira' (Sacred Tooth Relic Chamber) and declared opened for public veneration amidst the Poya Day proceedings. Meanwhile, Sal tree sapling was also planted as a symbolic gesture at the invitation of the Chief Prelate Ven. Rathanasiri thero.
Venerable Maha Sanga, Senior Minister Piyasena Gamage, Chief Minister of the Southern Province Shan Wijayalal De Silva, provincial councilors, Divisional Secretary Mrs. Priyantha Dissanayaka, villagers, dhamma school students and a large gathering of devotees were also present at the event.(MoD/KH)
