The Ministry pf Technology and Research has taken steps to mark November 4 to 10 as National Science Week. A Special Science Zone will be held by the Industrial and Technology Institute in and around Independence Square to mark the occasion.
It will include science exhibitions, new inventions, water rocket competitions, debates on astrology and science and screening of science fiction films, lectures and workshops, information on new scientific findings and opportunities for the public to view the observatory.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
News.lk publishes in three languages – Sinhala, Tamil and English.
