The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development yesterday revealed that the fish prices at the Peliyagoda Fish Trade Centre have dropped substantially as the country's fish harvest has increased.
According to the sources, fish prices are rapidly decreasing as large stocks of fish arrive at the Peliyagoda fish market. Accordingly, a kilo of Sailfish costs Rs. 500, Seer fish Rs. 400, Balaya Rs. 250, Tuna Rs. 320, cuttlefish Rs. 250, Ribbon fish Rs. 40 and Anjilawo Rs. 400 at the Peliyagoda fish market, sources added.
