    Model Coconut Park to be established in 600 acre land

    The Coconut Cultivation Board is making plans to take over a land in an extent of around 600 acres with shrubbery and senile coconut palms adjoining the Model Coconut Park of Coconut Cultivation Board owned by the Janatha Estate Development Board in order to develop it.

     

    The objective of taking over the land of 600 acres is to maintain it as a Model Coconut Park, produce quality seed nuts and maintain nurseries in order to supply the requirements of coconut seedlings in the Northern Province, maintain a research centre for eradication of coconut based diseases in the area, establishing a Coconut Development Training Centre, establishing a centre for dissemination of technical knowhow and techniques, maintaining a supply centre of agricultural machinery and equipment required by the coconut growers in the area as well as generation of direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth in the area.
