    Handing over of Utility Vehicles

    A range of essential utility vehicles worth of over Rs.450 million were handed over to the Colombo Municipal Council by Secretary to President Lalith Weeratunga on the invitation of Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development  Gotabaya Rajapaksa r at a ceremony held at Ministry premises on Wednesday (10).  The vehicles were handed over under the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project.

    The Metro Colombo Urban Development Project focuses on three key factors: flood and drainage management, urban development, infrastructure rehabilitation and capacity building for Metro Colombo local authorities, and implementation support.

     

    The aim of the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project is to complement the ongoing urban regeneration programs of the Government of Sri Lanka by reducing the physical and socioeconomic impacts of flooding in the Metro Colombo Region and improving priority local infrastructure and services.

     

    The estimated cost of the Metro Colombo Urban development project is Rs 29000 million.

     

    Minister AHM Fowzie, Mayor of Colombo AJM Muzammil, Addl. Secretary (Technical) of the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Rohan Seneviratne and Chairman of SLLR&DC Harshan de Silva participated at the event.(KH)
