The phase 2 of the project for distribution of those essentials was held at Pallewela Sri Rathanapala Memorial Hall in Horowpothana on Tuesday (12) with the participation of Mrs Ratnayake and a large representative gathering of ASVU members, including chairpersons of all Regimental Seva Vanitha Units.
118 families in Maradankadawala, 146 families in Alutwatta, 39 families in Rambewa - Thulana, 191 Muslim families in Thulana and a few other groups were provided bottled and bowser water under this arrangement. Each family was also given a packet of dry rations containing rice, dhal, sugar, tinned fish, flour, etc in addition to special items awarded to 150 families with little children.
This was the second project of the ASVU organized with the blessings of the Commander of the Army. Last week, the ASVU went to Medirigiriya and distributed those relief items among affected civilians, belonging to more than 700 families.
