The research symposium covers areas like Agriculture, including animal science, aquaculture and fisheries and allied fields in natural and social sciences. Agriculture exhibition is also being held parallel to the research symposium. The Symposium will conclude today (12).
The Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy was established on 22nd December, 1987 under the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Research with the enactment of the CARP Act No 47 of 1987. Since then CARP has been actively engaged in supporting agricultural research in the National Agricultural Research System.
The primary responsibility of Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy is to develop policies and strategies to strengthen research and development in the agricultural sector. Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeyewardena, Dr. Jayantha Samarasinghe, Chairman, SLCARP, foreign and local researchers participated at the event. (ST/MDE)
