The initiative to build houses for the two beneficiaries was mooted after the plight of the families of Vijaya Kumar Sindujan and Sinnapullai Sivanaviyan was brought to the knowledge of Army authorities by the people and village officials. The houses were built by the troops under Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna with financial support from Mr. Mohan Shankar and Mrs Vadhani Shankar.

Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi, donors, state officials, members of the beneficiary families and local residents were also present at the house handing over ceremony.
