The Cabinet has previously decided to appoint an Officials' Committee to recommend a more appropriate mechanism to be adopted in order to provide facilities for the Temples and Dhamma Schools throughout the country, for upgrading their facilities, in a more formal and consistent manner.
Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Gamini Jayawickrema Perera, the Minister of Buddhasasana, to follow the recommendations submitted by the said committee so as to carry out the functions avoiding duplication when the Government provides facilities for the Temples and Dhamma Schools, and also to adopt the same recommendations in facilitating and developing other religious places of worship as well, was approved by the Cabinet.
