The Government has focused attention on the supply of houses for the increasing housing demand of the Middle income community.
Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to implement a housing project of 1,900 housing units, in the areas of Kottawa, Orugodawatta, Anuradhapura, Nuwara Eliya, Awissawella and Horana, to meet the housing requirements of the professionals and the Executive Grade Officers, was approved by the Cabinet.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
