Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kmph can be expected in Central hilly areas and in Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Northern, North-central, Southern and Eastern provinces and Kurunegala district today.

Several spells of showers will occur in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western and Southern provinces. Fairly heavy falls about 50 mm can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.

Light showers may occur in Kurunegala district.

Marine Weather

There is still a high possibility for the wind speed over the surrounding sea areas, particularly to the Southeast and Northwest of the country to increase to some extent.

Winds will be south-westerly in direction in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph.

The sea areas extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanturai and the sea area extending from Hambanthota to Pottuvil can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50-60 kmph at times. Other sea areas can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times.

Several spells of light showers may occur at few places in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere.
