    Comprehensive programme launched across the island to eliminate disparities

    The historic programme to vest 180 development projects in the public commenced under the patronage of President in PolonnaruwaPresident Maithripala Sirisena says a comprehensive programme will be launched to attain balanced development in the country ,eliminating the disparities in the development of regions of the country, which has resulted due to the development that was limited to some parts of the country during the past era.

    The President made these remarks participating in a ceremony to open the newly constructed school building at the Diulankadawala Central College, today (01). The inauguration ceremony of the vesting of 180 development projects, which have been completed under the “Pibidemu Polonnaruwa (Awakening of Polonnaruwa)” District Development Programme, in the public commenced today at the Diulankadawala Central College.

    Rs. 6,000 million has been allocated for the “Pibidemu Polonnaruwa” District Development Programme, it is the largest amount allocated for the development of the Polonnaruwa district after the era of the ancient Sinhala Kings. Through this project, at present many development projects have been completed and vested in the public and within these three days another 180 projects are to be vested in the public.

    Under this programme a number of religious, educational, health and various other projects have been completed in the Hingurakgoda, Medirigiriya and Elahera Divisional Secretariats Divisions. 60 new development projects will be vested in the public with the participation of ministers, academics and artistes.

    Addressing the gathering, the President further stated that this mega developmental battle will be initiated in all parts of the Island, not only in Polonnaruwa. The President pointed out that this programme will identify the needs of the people and it is a people centric development which will make prosperous the lives of the people.

    Among the projects which were vested in the public today, the children who are ready to take the future of the country, will be able to gain more benefits. The opening of new development projects of the schools were held under the patronage of the President and the Ministers and MPs.

    Starting the constructions of the water supply system built in Sewagama, Onegama spending Rs.425 million was initiated by the Ministers Rauff Hakeem, M. L. A. M. Hizbullah and P. Harrison This project, which enriches more than two thousand families is scheduled to be completed within 20 months.The ministers engaged in Opening the Pudur water supply system which benefits 250 families and granting two floor classroom building of Pudur Islamic Junior College for the usage of the students.

    The new classroom building of Elahara Mahasen Vidyalaya Bakamuna, of the Elahara Divisional Secretariat was also granted for the usage of the students under the patronage of minister Daya Gamage, State minister Lakshman Seneviratne, and the Vice Chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lankan E.M.P. Ekanayake.Minister Duminda Dissanayake and Member of Parliament, Sydney Jayarathne engaged in Opening the Kawuduluwewa Hindu Temple which was reconstructed and engaged in granting the new public hall for the usage of the public.

    The new classroom building which was built in Diggalpura Primary School was granted for the usage of the students, where starting the construction work of Meegaswewa Junior School, and the three floors building which composes 8 classrooms with an auditorium of Udaragama Primary School, and the resource center of Mandalagiriya Maha Vidyalaya were also granted for the usage of the students under the patronage of Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

    The new classroom buildings of Hikurakgoda Rotawewa Sinhala Junior School were also granted for the usage of the students under the patronage of Chief Minister of Western Province Isura Devapriya, Member of Parliament Chatura Senaratna, and Peshala Bandara.Deputy Minister Buddhika Pathirana and Minister of Western Province Ranjith Somawansha engaged in the construction work of the new class room buildings of Madirigiya Thalakolawewa Junior School and granting the new classrooms of Kumudupura Junior School for the usage of the students.
