The sea areas extending from Negombo to Batticaloa via Puttalam, Kankasanturai and Trincomalee and Hambanthota to Pottuvil can be very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-65 kmph at times.
Other sea areas can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times.
Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
In addition, several spells of light showers will occur in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle. Winds will be south-westerly in direction in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph.
Land areas
There is still a high possibility for the wind speed over the Island and surrounding sea areas to increase. It will continue further during the next few days.
Strong gusty winds up to 50-60 kmph are likely over the island.
Several spells of showers will occur in Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Light showers may occur elsewhere.
