The Ganeshapuram canal is fed by the Iranamadu tank. It can be considered as a lifeline of the mostly agro based economy of the area. Troops made their contribution to the 'Sharamadana' as a part of their community outreach projects.

Meanwhile, several other community welfare programmes were also carried out by the troops in Kilinochchi. A Shramadana campaign was also conducted to clean the Kariyalanagapadduvan canal. In another such programme troops got together to clean the Akkarayankulam Pulliyar Kovil premises and its surroundings.
