    Islamic Organization Donates Wheelchairs to War Heroes & Civilians

    In a rare symbolic gesture of solidarity with all ethnicities , the 'M. C. A Hameed Hajiyar Trust', a spiritual development centre of the Islamic faith inviting the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake as the Chief Guest on Saturday (5) gave away a stock of 110 wheelchairs for distribution among tri-service members, Police and civilians whom the donor organization treats as 'those who need public attention and assistance of the society'.

    At the invitation of M. C. A Hameed Hajiyar, President of the M. C. A Hameed Hajiyar Trust, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army graced the unique gesture of distribution of this stock of modern wheelchairs worth over Rs. 1.5 million at Gall Face green. The programme, reflective of significant bonds that prevail between major religious communities and Islamic devotees would be a stimulant to religious harmony.

    This is a continuation of their donation programme fifth in a row which began in 2016 after donating wheelchairs for civilians including Army personnel, children and the elderly. The selection of those recipients was done through the Island-wide Army, Police and Divisional Secretariats.

    The spiritual centre, M. C. A Hameed Hajiyar Trust is focused on believing of His Holiness Sulthanul Arifeen, Sheihul Mufliheen M. S. M Abdullah (Rah) by distributing dry rations (Feast), according to the visions of Holiness Sulthanul Arifeen, Sheihul Mufliheen M. S. M Abdullah (Rah). His Holiness does this programme every year during 23-25 July. This spiritual centre is headquartered in Aarayampathi, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.

    The main objective of this Trust is to enlighten mankind through eternal truth by action of deed that the blessing and guidance of the almighty are essentially important for everyone to achieve peace and tranquillity.

    Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella, 231 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Edward Jayasinghe, Director Legal, several senior Officers and civilians were also associated with the ceremony.
