    Japan's Economy, Trade and Industry State Minister meets Minister Basil

    Kazuyoshi Akaba, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, who visited with a senior delegation to Sri Lanka, met Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development on Monday (28) at the Ministry of Economic Development premises.

    Kazuyoshi Akaba will participate at the Joint Public Private Forum and is also expected to meet senior government officials during his visit.

     

    The key objectives of the visit are to enhance commercial activity between the two countries, to increase investments to Sri Lanka, to discuss the future expansionary prospects of Japanese companies already operating in Sri Lanka and to explore other mutually beneficial economic and industrial opportunities.

     

    Mikio Aoki, Director for Trade Policy,  Takashi Shimokyoda, Deputy Director, South Asia Office, Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka, Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda and senior government officials participated at this occasion.(KH)
