The proposed power plant will provide 4.68 GWh of electricity to the national grid. It will be constructed under the supervision of the Irrigation Department and handed over to the Ceylon Electricity Board once it is completed.
In parallel to this project, 100 tanks will be constructed to provide water to the lands for cultivation. It is planned to provide water to 40,000 acres of cultivation lands.
The first stage of the construction has already started while the canals which connect to the Yodha Wewa are also being constructed.
The construction work on the project will be completed in three years and the expected water capacity is 169,440 Acft while it is the third largest reservoir in the country.
