Construction work of Sengaloya Project in the Pallama Divisional Secretariat in Anamaduwa will commence next month at a cost of Rs. 1 billion, State Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management Palitha Range Bandara said.
More than 500 farmer families and thousands of acres of paddy fields in the area have been affected due to the Sengaloya anicut, which has been damaged due to the floods.
Considering this situation, steps have been taken to accelerate the Sengaloya project. The project will be undertaken by the Irrigation Department under the guidance of the State Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources Management.
