Strong winds can be expected over the country particularly in the Northern, North-central, Uva and North-western provinces and in Hambanthota District (40-50 kmph) and surrounding sea areas (55-60 kmph).

Several spells of showers will occur at Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Central provinces and in Mannar, Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.

Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning
