Very heavy falls (above 150 mm) are expected at some places in the North-western, North-central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kaluthara District.

Heavy falls (above 100 mm) are expected at some places elsewhere.

Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.

On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 27th of August and 6th of September. The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is almost overhead today  are Kottukachchiya, Mamunugama, Ehetuwewa, Thalawa, Madatugama, Kibissa, Polonnaruwa, Vakaneri and Passikudah about 12.11 noon.
