    New ward complex for Borella Ayurveda Hospital

    The Government will add a ward complex at a cost of Rs 1,800 million to the Borella Ayurveda hospital and provide specialist services as well, Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne said.

    Minister said that the Borella Ayurveda hospital will be developed to the standard of Colombo National Hospital.

       
     
    According to the minister, the government is translating 600 ola leaf books on Ayurveda to Sinhala and he requested Ayurveda doctors to hand over such books to the Ayurveda Department.

     

    There is a plan to grow cannabis on 100 acres to use for indigenous medicines. The minister said that cannabis is necessary for Ayurveda, but some take it as a drug and it has become a big issue. These 100 acres of cannabis will be maintained by the army and the excess is exported. Minister said that it is necessary to standardize the shops selling Ayurveda drugs.

     

    Meanwhile, the government also has taken steps to develop herbal gardens in the Uva province, the minister added.
