The ‘Welamiriya Suspension Bridge’ in Rathnapura which sustained damages inflicted by the recent flash floods, was reconstructed and ceremonially opened for the community use by the Navy on 16th June in Ayagama following the directives of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne.
The public in the region conveyed their gratitude for the generous support extended by the naval personnel of Shipwright and Civil Engineering branches and all naval personnel who contributed for that.
Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Nilantha Premasiri, naval officers, religious dignitaries and a large number of residents were present on the occasion.
