President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Minister Hakeem as the minister in charge of re-development of Kalutara District with the intention of immediately restoring the living conditions of the affected people.

 
At the meeting, it was decided to continue the ongoing relief measures, control possible dengue epidemic situations in the area, and to hold Shramadana campaign for the next one week. The Tri Forces will be assisted by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board and other volunteer organizations in this regard.

The minster pointed out that a comprehensive plan should be implemented to prevent or minimize such disaster situations in the future and expected the support of the Department of Irrigation and other relevant public institutions.

He further said that they have paid attention to support to build the economy of daily wage earners and the small entrepreneurs.  “The government has the ability to provide solutions for all prevailing issues”, he added.
