    Karapitiya Hospital gets two new units Featured

    The Health Ministry has decided to construct a Dialysis Unit and Kidney Transplant Unit at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital in Galle at a cost of Rs 885 million.


    Accordingly a new five storied building complex would be built at the hospital premises. The new building would house two wards, theatres for kidney transplant, an Intensive Care Unit and a research unit for kidney diseases.


    Planning work for the new building had been done by the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB).


    The two new units would provide services to patients in the Southern Province as well as to those in the adjacent districts of Moneragala and Ratnapura.


    The contract to build the two new units would be awarded to the CECB of the Ministry of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities. (HC)
