    Three RO plants opened for community use

    Sri Lanka Navy opened three more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants installed in ‘Ranaviru Village’ in Rambewa, Diyasenpura in Medirigiriya and Dematamalgama in Mahavilachchiya were bestowed upon the community yesterday (8th Feb.).

    The Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority, Mrs. Anoma Fonseka, as the Chief Guest, declared open the RO plant facility installed in ‘Ranaviru Village’ Rambewa. This facility will provide safe drinking water for 436 families in the ‘Ranaviru Village’. The financial provision for this RO system was made by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Disease.

     

    Similarly, the facilities set up in Diyasenpura and Dematamalgama are capable of quenching the thirst of 360 and 180 families residing in respective villages, with safe drinking water. The Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Disease had made financial support for these two facilities as well.

     

    Sri Lanka Navy’s Research and Development Unit so far has installed a total of 131 RO facilities across the country to date, facilitating over 57,106 families and 45,100 school children with safe drinking water provided free of charge.
