Accordingly, it has planned to achieve a target-income of Rs. 500 million within next year, said the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera.
He stated this recently at the opening ceremony of two fish stalls of the corporation in Kuliyapitiya and Warakapola.
“It is the intension of the corporation to increase the fish consumption in Sri Lanka. Though the annual per capita fish consumption should be 24 kgs, in the last few years it was around 12-15 kgs. But, this year it increased to 16.7 kgs, while the daily fish consumption increased to 47.6 grams.”
