    Showery conditions increase in weekend – Met. Department Featured

    The atmospheric disturbance in the Bay of Bengal still persists to the southeast of Sri Lanka and it is likely to develop in to a low pressure area. Under the influence of the above system cloudy skies and showery conditions are expected to continue (especially 19th to 21st November), particularly in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western, Eastern and Uva provinces.


    Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the most parts of the island.


    Heavy falls (about 100mm) can be expected at some places, particularly in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Eastern, Uva and Southern provinces.


    Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces during the morning.


    There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
