The lands to be released include 83.70 acres from Kankesanthurai West, 15.68 acres from Kankesanthurai Central, 28.20 acres Kankesanthurai North, 77.20 acres from Thaiyiddy East, and 249.24 acres from Thaiyiddy North.

“The Ministry of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs will extend support for the construction of houses under its 10,000 housing program based on "Owner Driven Concept Model" for the resettlement of IDPs. Further, under the renovation of housing program, partly damaged houses will be renovated and water supply, sanitation and other common infrastructure facilities will be supported. These initiative is a milestone in the reconciliation process”, said the Ministry Secretary V. Sivagnanasothy.
