He said that they are employees who are working for years but most are not on the permanent cadre. They work on a daily wage. If they fall sick the family will be without a source of income and thereby become helpless.
They could not be made permanent as they didn’t have educational qualifications. But since they have worked for many years they are well experienced in their line of work.
By getting the NVQ certificate the employees can get them- selves permanent or promoted.
Prabath Narangoda of the National Vocational Training Institute said that educational qualifications are not needed to obtain NVQ certificate as they have experience in their chosen field we are giving them the certificate without charging any money.
