Under this scheme meters will be fixed to calculate the exact distance and the fare. Minister made these comments explaining the workings of Measurement units, Standards, and Services Department.

Minister further said that though many people travel by three-wheeler daily a major complaint made by the passengers is that they charge exorbitant amounts.

The Measurement units, Standards, and Services Department is engaged in this project and meters will be given according international OLML regulations said Director Premasiri Kumara.

Once the meters are installed Centers will be established to check the accuracy of the system.

This will help the people enjoy a reasonable fare. As the three wheelers also contribute to the transport system of the country our government wants to make it a reliable service said the minister. Already centers are being established with the necessary equipment to check the accuracy of meters once they are fixed.
