    Govt. to uplift university infrastructure facilities Featured

    Government has given priority to cater to the requirements of current students and future demand for universities by improving space and infrastructure facilities in government universities.

    Catering to the future demand, it is expected to enroll 1,825 students by the end of this year to follow courses in technology stream and also to increase the intake by 5% annually from 2017.

     

    The proposal made by Minister of Higher Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella to improve infrastructure including faculty buildings, computer units, libraries, and research buildings in eight universities was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers


    It is expected to uplift these infrastructure facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 484 million in 2016 and Rs. 3,381 million and Rs. 1,074 million respectively in 2017 and 2018 with the view of generating professional graduates to suit the development needs of the economy and international job market.
