A pilot project covering the Galle district is now underway. Several progress meetings were held at the Ministry of Plantations Industries with relevant organizations in order to finalize methodologies and for securing adequate funds.

Ministry of Plantation Industries has initiated mapping of tea estates using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. Land Use & Policy Planning Department (LUPPD) and other state departments will assist the GIS mapping process.
