A new programme is already in place to upgrade low income fishery families in the Northern Province. The distribution of fishing gear among these families took place in Kilinochchi.
Fishing gear was dished out to these fisher families in the Northern Province under the programme of enhancing their income earning avenues.
The fishing gear was handed over to fisher families of 13 Fisher Associations in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts under the patronage of Northern Governor Reginald Cooray.
Northern Province Fisheries Minister B. Danishwaran was among the group that was present.
