24 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing were apprehended by SL Navy at Trincomalee and Kalpitiya waters on Thursday (10th March).
Two persons were arrested in Trincomalee waters along with a Dinghy boat.
Meanwhile, 22 people with 5 Fiber Glass Dinghies, 2 Fishing Nets, 5 GPSs, 3 pairs of Diving Fins and 3 Snorkel have been arrested in Kalpitiya waters.
They all have been handed over to Assistance Director Fisheries in Trincomalee and Puttalam respectively for further investigations.
