New laws to ensure road safety Featured

    March 03, 2016

Sri Lanka has developed a multi-sectoral action plan to identify shortcomings in road safety rules, strengthening laws and adding new laws in partnership with stakeholders to control the alarming increase in traffic accidents in the country.

The National Council for Road Safety under the purview of the Transport Ministry has taken various steps to minimise road accidents, improving road safety measures and educating the public regarding traffic rules.

This was disclosed at a special conference attended by 60 experts in the field organised by the National Council for Road Safety at Galle Face Hotel yesterday.

This action plan will seek to impart international road safety rules to Sri Lanka to build a strong road rule and framework of action for road safety.
