    Media Minister to visit journalists in Northern province Featured

    Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilake will visit Northern province on 26th March to meet the provincial journalists to discuss their problems.

     

    Both state and private media representatives will also take part in this three-day visit with Minister who is scheduled to meet the family members of disappeared journalists.

     

    According to the minister, new 3 residents will be built for the families of 3 late journalists with the contribution of the three state media. The private media institutions also have expressed their willingness to extend the support in different ways.

     

    Minister was addressing the “Digital Media and Technology Enabled Society” workshop for Parliamentary journalists organized by the Sri Lanka Parliamentary Journalists Association (SLPJA) in co-operation with the Department of Government Information today (29). The training session was conducted by Dr. Lochandaka Ranathunghe, the Head of the Department of IT, Faculty of IT, and University of Moratuwa.

     

    Minister speaking on the island-wide provincial journalists said that he has discussed with the Housing Minister Sajith Premadasa to initiate 25 housing villages in all the districts to provide houses for the provincial journalists who have not a permanent house.

     

    As the Mass Media Minister he will interfere to solve any problem of the journalists and to provide welfare facilities, further said the minister.

     

    Director General of the Department of Government Information Dr.Darshanee Gunathilake also participated the occasion.
