    New trains to meet commuter demands from today Featured

    The Government has taken steps to deploy six new trains on the coastal line during weekends to meet the demand by train commuters. The new train service will be effective from today (20).

    One of the regular trains (Train No 8046) will depart from the Maradana Railway Station at 5.40 pm and reach the Galle Railway Station by 7.48 pm on Saturdays. Another train (Train No 8065) will leave the Galle Railway Station at 8.40 am and arrive in Maradana at 11.00 am on Sunday.

     

    Train No 8730, which begins its journey from Maradana at 7.21 am, will reach the Moratuwa Railway Station at 8.05 am. Train No 8331, leaving Moratuwa at 8.10 am, will end its journey at Maradana at 8.58 am.

     

    Meanwhile, train No 8729, which leaves the Maradana Station at 7.56 am, will reach Mt.Lavinia by 8.26 am. Train No 8339 will take off the Mt. Lavinia Railway Station at 9.45 am and reach the Maradana Railway Station at 10.14 am. Meanwhile, a special train service from Colombo Fort to Hatton will operate in addition to normal train services for the convenience of devotees who are on pilgrimage to Sri Pada.

     

    The train will depart from the Colombo Fort railway station at 7.30 pm and reach the Hatton railway station at 12.55 am while the return journey will commence from the Hatton railway station at 8.30 am and reach the Colombo Fort railway station at 2.31pm.
