He pointed out that Safe water, suitable for human consumption is a scarce resource which is indispensable for the sustenance of life on the planet and is considered as a key factor contributing towards overall economic and social development of a country. Access to safe drinking water is considered as an inalienable right of people and accordingly, he said that the government has given the top most priority for conservation and preservation of this invaluable resource.

Minister said that special attention will be forcused to solve the drinking water problem faced by the public in remote areas of the island. He said a comprehensive national program is being carried out to curb and prevent kidney disease and for the welfare of kidney patients.
