    Special Graduation Ceremony for SL Navy Engineers

    Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi graced a special Graduation Ceremony organized for a batch of Sri Lanka Navy Engineers by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) of India yesterday (12) at the BMICH.

    The batch of 167 Navy Engineering Officers, who had successfully completed their Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) degree from INS Shivaji, Lonavla in Pune, received their parchments during the event.

     

    Speaking at the occasion Secretary Hettiarachchi expressed his gratitude towards the Government of India for the assistance provided to fulfill technological and training requirements.

     

    He also highlighted that the patriotic contribution by naval personnel has been remarkable in achieving the decisive victory against LTTE terror. He also requested the young officer to keep in mind that, performance leads to recognition, recognition leads to respect and respect leads to power, so the only way to make Sri Lanka a powerful and respected nation is through the performance.


    Secretary Hettiarachchi also congratulated all the graduate officers for their achievements.

     

    Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe presented a memento to Secretary Hettiarachchi to mark the event.

     

    Officials of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Senior Navy Officers and a large number of family members of the graduates were present at the occasion.
