    'Virusara' privilege card for War Heroes to be launched in January Featured

    The first leg of special privilege card for War Heroes, 'Virusara' is to be launched on the 25th of January (2016) under the patronage of the President. It was revealed at a meeting held at the Ministry auditorium yesterday (11).

    The meeting was held under the patronage of State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene.

     

    Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi and State Secretary Mr. APG Kithsiri were also present at the occasion.

     

    The 'Virusara' privilege card project is a brainchild of State Minister Wijewardene. It provides beneficiaries a host of products and services from state and private sector entities thus enabling them and their families to enjoy special benefits including scholarships, tangible discounts on products and services, priority on services and other facilities. The project is aimed at assisting to uplift the living standards of War Heroes and their families.

     

    Adding strength to the project, 45 corporate sector entities pledged to support towards the project during the meeting today. These partner firms include a number of leading conglomerates and popular brands in both state and private sector industries offering services in retail trade, travel & transport, education, insurance & finance, medical, telecommunication etc.

     

    During the meeting Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel as a main financial sponsor of the 'Virusara' project entered into an agreement with the Ranaviru Seva Authority, the executors of the project.

     

    The agreements were signed by the Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Mr.PG Kumarasinghe Sirisena and Acting Chairperson of the Ranaviru Seva Authority Mrs. SBWTMRUD Malagamuwa.

     

    Commanders of the Army and Air Force, Inspector General of Police, officials of MoD and Ranaviru Seva Authority and large number of heads/representatives of government and private sector institutions were also present at the occasion.
