The tree planting week ​organized under the guidance of Primary Industries Minsiter Daya Gamage.​commenced in Poddiwela in the Galle District.

Minister Daya Gamage expressing his views during the ceremony said that the tree planting week was commenced parallel to the programme​ initiated by the Primary Industries Ministry with the aim of achieving a two fold increase in revenue by ​year ​2020​.​

He further informed that it is planned to introduce a planting method which will pave the way for one hundred thousand women to earn Rs.100,000 per year.

It is expected to plant 200,000 export agriculture crops within ​the tree planting week.

Petroleum Resources Development Deputy Minister Ms.Anoma Gamage, farmers and exporters were present on the occasion.
