He said it was not possible to catch all crocodiles in the river at the moment. De Silva said some crocodiles found in the Menik Ganga have already been released to the Yala National Park. "However, it is difficult to prevent them coming again to the Menik Ganga," the Assistant Director said.

He said after the water level of the Menik Ganga decreases, the crocodiles will be caught with the assistance of officers of the Kataragama District Secretariat Office.

De Silva said it has also been decided to set up iron enclosures in places where pilgrims bathe in the Menik Ganga. It is said that there are about 50 crocodiles in the Menik Ganga.
