The Dept. further says that showers or thundershowers will develop over most parts of the island after 02.00 p.m. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) are also likely at some places.

Showers also may occur at several places along coastal areas in the Northern, Western, Southern and North western provinces during the morning too.  Misty conditions can be expected at some places during the morning.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The Met Dep. cautions general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
