Sri Lanka Navy granted interest free loans to senior sailors as a part of its 65th anniversary celebration. The welfare initiative saw interest free loans of Rs. 500,000.00 each being provided to 400 senior sailors under a concept mooted by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Ministry of Defence said.
A function was held at the Naval Headquarters on Tuesday (01st December 2015) to hand over the financial incentive to naval personnel under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy. The beneficiaries of the loan scheme were selected in accordance with their seniority. Four hundred senior sailors were provided with interest free loans under the first stage of the scheme.
