Speaking in parliament Saturday, the Minister said although the students of Inter University Federation were invited they did not come for talks. He said that several messages were sent to the students to meet him at the Parliament but they did not come.
The Minister pointed out that the government is elected to resolve the problems of the people and therefore, it is prepared to hold discussions with the students to resolve their issues.
The students of the Inter University Students Federation held a five-day protest march from Kandy to Colombo making a number of demands. The march was expected to reach Colombo on Friday and they were expected to stage a demonstration near parliament to state their demands but a court order obtained by police prevented them from proceeding to the parliament.
